A layout designed around the animals

Three large, grassy dog fields sit behind a staff courtyard. The kennels open straight onto the fields, the clinic and kitchen are steps away, and visitors stay in a welcoming area at the front, well away from the resident animals.

Everything the animals need, in one place

What we're building

Three dog fields and kennels

Three fenced fields of about 2,000 m² each, with a kennel for 20 dogs opening onto every field. Each field has shaded shelters, trees and fresh water.

A dedicated cattery

A quiet cattery for 20–30 cats, with a colony room, a kitten room, a cat isolation room and a fully enclosed outdoor catio. It's screened from the dogs.

Clinic and isolation

An on-site clinic for check-ups, vaccinations and recovery, plus isolation kennels so new arrivals can settle in safely before joining a group.

Meal prep and feed store

A proper kitchen for preparing dog and cat meals, next to a dry, rodent-proof feed store, so every animal gets fresh, safe food every day.

Carers on site, day and night

Four to five staff live on site, with a shared kitchen, bathroom and bedrooms, so someone is always close by.

A welcoming visitor area

Reception, visitor toilets, paved parking and a fenced meet-and-greet lawn where future families can meet their new best friend.

Designed for welfare

Safe, healthy and happy

Dogs will live in stable groups of 20, each with its own field and about 100 m² of space per dog

Every dog has its own raised bed, and each kennel has a shaded verandah out of the rain

Strong 8 ft welded-mesh perimeter fencing with an anti-dig barrier keeps everyone safe

Solid bases on shared fences reduce stress and fence-fighting between groups

Clean water on tap, rainwater harvesting and backup power for the vaccine fridge

Separate spaces for cats, new arrivals and sick animals help stop disease spreading
