About Us

At Tumaini Tails Foundation, we believe every dog and cat deserves a safe, healthy, loved life. What started as one family's rescue work has grown into a dedicated sanctuary for Kenya's most vulnerable dogs and cats — offering rescue, sanctuary care, fostering, and adoption, alongside community-based sterilization and education to stop suffering before it starts.

Our Story

What began as a passion for helping vulnerable animals has grown into a sanctuary dedicated to giving dogs and cats a second chance at life. For more than 11 years, our family has rescued, rehabilitated, and rehomed hundreds of dogs and cats, while hand-raising countless orphaned puppies and kittens.

In 2013, we began volunteering with KSPCA and TNR Trust as foster and adoption coordinators, gaining hands-on experience in rescue, rehabilitation, adoption, and community sterilization — work that shaped our belief that lasting change requires both rescue and prevention.

As the need for rescue and long-term care grew, our home reached capacity — making it clear that a dedicated sanctuary was needed. Tumaini Tails Foundation was established to provide a sustainable safe haven for vulnerable animals, while creating lasting solutions to reduce suffering.

Rescue remains at the heart of our work. Through humane Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) programs, community outreach, and education, we help reduce homelessness at its source and improve welfare for animals and communities alike.

Today, Tumaini Tails Foundation is supported by a dedicated community of volunteers, foster carers, adopters, sponsors, and donors who share our vision: a Kenya where every dog and cat is valued, protected, and given the chance to thrive.
